- Save the enrollment confirmation and a dated screenshot of the member’s current VIFP status and days sailed.
- Repeat the process for every eligible adult member. Authorized Mastercard users must opt in for themselves.
If the invitation does not arrive or the account shows the wrong status or cruise-day total, contact Carnival while there is still time to investigate. Do not use another person’s personalized link. A VIFP number will become a Carnival Guest Number, but that identifier alone is not the same as enrolling in the rewards program.

The original Carnival Rewards announcement on June 18, 2025 used an earlier June 1 launch and May 31 cutoff. Those dates are obsolete. Some older Carnival help pages and many third-party articles remain indexed with the old schedule, so use the current FAQ linked above and check that any page you rely on says September 1, 2026.
How each VIFP status carries into Carnival Rewards
Enrollment is the condition that connects the old loyalty record to participation in the new program. Carnival’s current transition treatment is summarized below.

Days sailed still matter, but in a different way. Carnival says an enrolled member’s pre-launch sailed days carry forward for the new Carnival Rewards Milestones program. Recognition begins at the member’s next milestone rather than retroactively issuing every earlier milestone reward. The new milestone schedule starts at 50 days sailed, then recognizes 100 days and later 100-day intervals under the published rules.
Status and milestone progress are therefore not interchangeable. Stars determine Red, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond after launch. Days sailed support milestone recognition. Points are the spendable rewards balance. Keeping those three ideas separate prevents most transition confusion.

Eligible spend can include cruise fare, gratuities, transfers, Carnival Vacation Protection, and qualifying pre-cruise or onboard purchases. Government taxes and required fees, Fly2Fun air, some fares and rate codes, and purchases funded by Points or certain credits do not qualify. Points and Stars tied to a voyage are generally added after the voyage rather than when the reservation is first paid. Carnival says the account update is approximately 14 days after sailing, with some pre-cruise purchase activity posting separately later. For a voyage that overlaps launch, posting can take until September 30.
Launch-day redemption channels also have limits. Carnival says members can apply eligible Points toward cruise fare on Carnival.com, redeem onboard through the HUB app, and redeem when booking through a travel advisor or agent. The FAQ describes pre-cruise redemption for items such as excursions, dining, spa, drinks, and Wi-Fi as future functionality. Do not promise that every pre-cruise purchase can be paid with Points on September 1.
Official 2026 tiers and benefits
Carnival Rewards has four status levels. There is no Sapphire tier. The official Carnival Rewards benefits page, dated August 7, 2026, currently lists these thresholds and headline benefits:

The benefit page gives a useful program-level summary, not a promise that every service is available in every port or on every itinerary. Priority access can be operationally limited, and the terms attached to a particular benefit control. Save the current benefit page before travel if a dining, embarkation, laundry, or other status perk materially affects your plan.
Platinum and Diamond transition protections
Platinum: A member who is VIFP Platinum as of August 31, 2026 and enrolls keeps Platinum through December 31, 2028. Carnival also says 10,000 Status Qualifying Stars will be deposited at the start of each Status Earning Window for this transition cohort. Because Gold begins at 10,000 Stars, the recurring boost provides a Gold floor and a head start toward 50,000-Star Platinum. It does not make Platinum permanent.
Diamond: A member who earns VIFP Diamond by August 31 and enrolls receives lifetime Carnival Rewards Diamond. That is a grandfathered exception to the normal two-year requalification structure. Members close to either VIFP threshold should use completed activity and the tier shown in the account, not an estimate based only on a future booking. VIFP Diamond currently begins at 200 points and Platinum at 75 points, with eligible sailing days normally producing VIFP points through August 31. A booking on its own is not the same as completed qualifying activity, although Carnival publishes a specific exception for a voyage overlapping launch.

If this exception determines lifetime Diamond or protected Platinum for you, keep the exact itinerary and current FAQ text and ask Carnival to confirm the expected account treatment. After the voyage, allow the published posting time, then report a mismatch with screenshots rather than relying on a forum interpretation.
Minors, cabins, and Mastercard users
Enrollment is individual, not cabin-wide. Each eligible adult should use their own VIFP number and personalized link. The current FAQ specifically says an authorized user on a Mastercard account needs to opt in for themselves. Do not infer that the primary account or another cabin member has completed enrollment for everyone.
Guests under 18 cannot directly participate in Carnival Rewards. Carnival says a minor sails with the status and benefits of the responsible paying adult, and the responsible adult receives the Points and Stars connected to the minor’s eligible portion under the program rules. If a minor is VIFP Platinum or Diamond as of August 31, Carnival says that recognition is retained on file and the guest will be invited to opt in with the corresponding transition treatment after turning 18.
For cruise fare shared by eligible guests in one stateroom, Carnival says Points and Stars are generally divided equally among those eligible guests. A responsible paying party receives the qualifying portion assigned to a minor. Payment by one adult does not automatically give that adult every other eligible adult’s Rewards credit.
Old Carnival loyalty claims to ignore
WeOnCruise is consolidating an older Carnival loyalty article into this page because that article contained unsupported claims that are not part of Carnival’s official 2026 program. Ignore any version that says:
- Carnival Rewards has a Sapphire tier. It has Red, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.
- One sea day converts to eight new-program points. Rewards earning is based on eligible spend and specified casino activity; sailed days are tracked separately for milestones.
- Diamond requires 1,600 points or that Sapphire requires 1,100. The official thresholds are 10,000 Stars for Gold, 50,000 for Platinum, and 100,000 for Diamond.
- The program launched in April or June 2026. The current effective date is September 1, 2026.
- Standard Sapphire benefits include free premium Wi-Fi, a $50 shore-excursion credit, or an annual cabin upgrade. Those are not published status benefits because Sapphire does not exist.
- Children earn exactly like adult members. Guests under 18 cannot directly enroll under the current program.
This correction is not cosmetic. Those claims could cause someone to spend money in pursuit of a nonexistent tier or miss the real enrollment action. The current Carnival FAQ and benefits page should outrank every old preview in your decision.
